Pochettino goes wild about Manchester United senior man with glowing verdict

By Will Butcher

Mauricio Pochettino has labelled Jose Mourinho as one of the greatest managers the game has ever known ahead of Tottenham’s showdown with Manchester United.

Pochettino was quoted by ESPN’s Tottenham correspondent Dan Kilpatrick on his personal Twitter account as saying Mourinho is one of the best managers in the game’s history and one of the best there will ever be.

“He is the special one and will always be the special one,” Pochettino said. “He was, is, will be one of [the] best managers in football history.”

Pochettino and Mourinho are set to share the Old Trafford touchline on Sunday, as Spurs take on United in an eagerly anticipated Premier League clash.

Spurs will be looking to maintain their resurgence in form against Mourinho’s side, after securing wins against Swansea and CSKA Moscow in their last two outings.

Former Southampton boss Pochettino will also be looking to improve a terrible record against the “special one”.

Portuguese boss Mourinho has come out on top in eight of the 10 times both managers have faced eachother, drawing one and losing the other.

Six points clear of United in the Premier League table, Spurs will be looking to close the gap on United’s bitter rivals Manchester City who sit in fourth.

Three points away at Old Trafford would see Spurs move level on points with Pep Guardiola’s side, if City fail to secure a win against Premier League champions Leicester City at the King Power stadium.

In other Tottenham news, Matt Le Tissier has called on Pochettino to give this fringe a player a chance in the starting eleven.
