Maurcio Pochettino has revealed he is open to making a late window transfer raid to boost Tottenham’s title challenge.
Spurs have not signed any senior players this month, with the only activity being the sale of Tom Carroll to Swansea and a flurry of loan exits involving youth team players.
Midfield enforcer Anton Walkes became the latest of the young guns to leave the club temporarily on Thursday when it was announced he had completed a six-month loan move to MLS team Atlanta United.

With the window to shut in five days, Pochettino gave an update on the club’s recruitment plans that will excite supporters.
The Spurs manager explained he has not ruled out any late arrivals in a similar message to the one he delivered before the deadline day signing of Moussa Sissoko from Newcastle for £30million last summer.
With echoes of his late August pronouncement, Pochettino explained he would be interested in welcoming only top-ranking players to his squad.
“I told you from the first day of the month that we are not thinking to sign players,” he said, as quoted by the Evening Standard. “If some special player becomes available who is a very good option, then maybe, but it hasn’t happened yet.
“Nothing is impossible because a player can arrive at the last moment but I don’t believe we will sign anyone.”
Tottenham concluded one of the main deals of the summer transfer window with only hours remaining when they beat Everton in the race to sign Sissoko.
The jury is still out on the success of that particular transfer as the France international has struggled to convince Pochettino of his merits, with the manager at one stage going public with his reservations about the player’s work rate and attitude.
Nevertheless, the Argentine’s flexible stance will please those supporters who believe the team need strengthening to mount a concerted title challenge.
Tottenham are third in the Premier League and nine points adrift of leaders Chelsea despite winning six of their last seven matches in the competition, with the most recent a notable 2-2 draw at Manchester City.
