Pochettino identifies what can help Tottenham defeat Chelsea on Wednesday

By Harvey Byrne

Mauricio Pochettino believes the Tottenham supporters can help his side overcome Chelsea in the Premier League on Wednesday.

The north London club are preparing to welcome Antonio Conte’s league leaders to White Hart Lane for the evening encounter.

Spurs are currently trailing the Blues by 10 points in fifth place and Pochettino knows a win for his side would be vital.

The Argentine boss has called on his “unbelievable” home crowd to continue their support and he believes they can help his side pick up all three points.

“Like always our fans are great, a fantastic help,” told Pochettino, as quoted by the official Tottenham website.

“The energy that they translate from the stands is unbelievable and I think all together we can beat Chelsea. We need only to try to spend our energy on trying to prepare for the game in the best condition.”

Spurs have already played Chelsea at Stamford Bridge this season in a tight encounter which saw goals from Pedro and Victor Moses cancel out a a fine Christian Eriksen strike.

This maintained Tottenham’s poor record against Chelsea with Spurs winning just one of their last 15 clashes.

However, their last victory did come in January 2015 in a 5-3 win at White Hart Lane.

Tottenham will now be looking to put an end to the Blues’ dominance, which has seen them win 13 matches in a row.

Additionally, a win on Wednesday will see them leapfrog fierce rivals Arsenal and Manchester City and move into third place in the table.
