Lamela was brought to the club in a huge £30million deal from Italian giants AS Roma in the summer of 2013.
The 24-year-old became the club’s record signing, but he has so far failed to live up to his hefty price tag due to poor form and injury.
Lamela enjoyed a good run in the first team at the opening stages of this campaign, starting 10 of his 14 matches and scoring two goals and supplying an impressive seven assists.
However, due to the recent formation change and Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen’s form in the attacking positions he may struggle to return to the side when he does eventually return from injury.
