Pontus Jansson’s girlfriend Asa Thornell has stated that she is “proud” after the Leeds ace was named in the EFL Championship Team of the Season.
Centre-back Jansson was selected alongside his Whites teammate Chris Wood in a team dominated by four Brighton players.
Garry Monk opted to bring Jansson to Yorkshire from Italian side Torino last summer and he was an instant hit with his performances and passionate celebrations winning over the fans.
As a result, his loan deal from the Italian outfit is now set to be made permanent at the end of this campaign.
After being named one of the best defenders in the Championship, his girlfriend had this to say on her personal Twitter account.
“You are the best,” Thornell wrote on her personal Twitter account. “So proud.”

Sweden international Jansson has mainly played alongside Kyle Bartley at the heart of the club’s defence this season.
Monk’s side have conceded 36 goals from their 38 matches this term – only automatic chasers Newcastle and Brighton have conceded less.
Over the course of the season, Jansson has played 28 matches for the Whites, scoring three goals and helping them secure 11 clean sheets during those games.
His three goals have come against Norwich, Aston Villa and Blackburn, all those strikes helped his side secure seven points.
Jansson was dropped to the bench at the weekend when Monk’s side beat Brighton 2-0 at Elland Road. He will be hoping to be back in the starting XI for the clash against Reading on April 1.
