Pontus Jansson posts Twitter message after Leeds defeat to Brighton

By Amir Mir

Pontus Jansson has stated on Twitter that Leeds will “bounce back” from their 2-0 defeat to Brighton at the Amex Stadium on Friday night.

Garry Monk’s side conceded two penalties on either side of the break and had to play much of the game with ten men after Kalvin Phillips was sent off after 23 minutes.

The 21-year-old midfielder saw red after he handled the ball on the line and the spot kick was dully converted by Seagulls striker Glenn Murray.

Despite dominating much of the contest, Chris Hughton’s promotion chasers only doubled their advantage eight minutes from time when Tomas Hemed scored the second penalty of the game.

Centre-back Jansson, who was substituted after 88 minutes, posted this message to supporters on his personal Twitter account.

Sweden international Jansson has played 14 Championship games this season, helping his side keep four clean sheets.

The result means Brighton top the league table after 20 games, but second place Newcastle can overtake them, if they beat Birmingham City at St James’ Park on Saturday afternoon.

By contrast, the Yorkshire club can drop out of the top six, if results go against them at the weekend.

The Whites take on Jaap Stam’s Reading on Tuesday night, looking to show their credentials once more for what will be a tough promotion campaign.

In the latest Leeds news, supporters on Twitter have shared their disappointment to Kemar Roofe’s display against Brighton.
