'Joke', 'Losing the plot' - Celtic fans rage after player loan exit is announced
Celtic fans have taken to social media to rage after it was confirmed that Erik Sviatchenko has exited Parkhead on loan.
The 26-year-old centre-back has returned to his former club FC Midtjylland on loan until the end of the season, as he attempts to make the Denmark squad for the World Cup.
The news was announced by the Hoops on their official website, and some supporters seem upset by the news, despite the fact that the player hasn’t featured for the first-team since August.
One fan went as far rate the Danish international as “our best centre-half”.
Here are some of the best reactions from Twitter to Sviatchenko’s temporary departure from Celtic:
Thought he was better than boyata. I mean absolutely better than boyata. Personally think BR. Losing the plot.

Joke Celtic, why’s he been frozen out? I think he’s as good, if not better, than Jozo or Boyata. He had a honking game in 1-1 with Sevco last year but can’t remember anything else so drastic. Good luck big Erik.

Thought he was our best center half. He's not up against much though.

This is mind boggling. He’s one of our best CB’s, what the hell is going on just now? ????

Absolutely pointless letting Eric go out on loan, he's either wanted or not and clearly is not.

Don't know what went on behind the scenes but he was decent for us .. sad to see him go

Sviatchenko was signed by former Hoops boss Ronny Deila in January 2016 for £1.5million, and was a regular part of the first-team squad, his most memorable moment being a towering header scored against Rangers in the 2016 Scottish Cup semi-final against Rangers.
Since the arrival of Brendan Rodgers the centre-back’s chances have been limited, with the Northern Irishman preferring the likes of Jozo Simunovic, Dedryck Boyata and Kolo Toure.
With the arrival of Marvin Compper from Leipzig and the emergence of teenage Norwegian Kristoffer Ajer in recent weeks Sviatchenko’s chances of first-team football seemed more remote than ever, so it makes sense for him to depart.
