Celtic have for too many years, had too many midfielders, but it looks as if some players could be set to depart the club from that particular area of the team.
The Scottish Sun reports that Eboue Kouassi could be set to depart the Hoops on a season-long loan deal, whilst the Daily Record claims that up to four teams are interested in signing Stuart Armstrong.
If the duo depart it makes sense for the Hoops, as Kouassi has little prospect of getting regular game time and Armstrong’s refusal to sign a new long-term deal with the club leaves the Hoops with little option but to sale the player before he can leave on a free contract.
Even if the aforementioned duo leave, there are still some other midfielders that the Hoops should look to move on before they sign another player to add to the ranks.
Kundai Benyu doesn’t seem to have much of a future with the Hoops after failing to impress on loan at Oldham last season, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him move on, perhaps on loan again.
Whilst Nir Bitton looks set to be on the fringes of the squad once he recovers from his knee injury.
In a way the Hoops are fortunate to have so many good players in one area of the team, but there are far too many now.
More numbers are needed in defence and particularly in attack and those are areas Brendan Rodgers should look to address this summer.
