Chelsea manager Antonio Conte wants his side to make a club-record move for Everton forward Romelu Lukaku in the summer transfer window, according to a report.
The Daily Mail claim that Conte has identified the 23-year-old as integral to his plans at Stamford Bridge in the future, with the future of striker Diego Costa unclear.
The report details that Chelsea may have to pay double the £28million they sold Lukaku for in 2014 when he joined Everton, which would smash their current record of £50million spent on Fernando Torres.
Lukaku has been a major success this season for Everton and is the top scorer in the Premier League.
The Belgium international has made 37 appearances across all competitions this term, scoring an impressive 25 goals in return.
He endured a frustrating three-year spell at Chelsea as a youngster where he struggled to make an impact as he failed to score in 15 appearances.
However, his performances since his switch to Everton have helped him become one of the most feared attackers in the top-flight.
Football Insider verdict:
Everton would love to keep talisman Lukaku at Goodison Park next season as manager Ronald Koeman looks to help establish the Merseyside club at the top-end of the season. The striker has been in formidable form this campaign and has been clinical in front of goal during his Toffees career, scoring 86 goals in 164 appearances. However, the Belgian looks destined to play in the Champions League and a £50million-plus offer from Chelsea should be accepted. Koeman would be able to rebuild his squad with that large sum and find a new top scorer.
