Brendan Rodgers is now among the favourites to be the next Ipswich Town boss with one of the UK's top bookmakers.

Ipswich won promotion back to the Premier League last month after finishing second in the Championship behind Coventry City.

Kieran McKenna led the Tractor Boys to the top flight for a second time in three seasons, but then decided to leave the club last week.

The 40-year-old stepped down out of the blue to focus on personal commitments, with Ipswich now searching for their next permanent manager.

Former Leicester and Celtic manager Rodgers is among the leading candidates to take the role with a top UK bookmaker.

He is currently managing Saudi Pro League club Al Qadsiah after resigning from his position at Celtic last October.

Rodgers could be back in English football soon, but it remains to be seen if the Portman Road board offer him the vacant role.

What are Brendan Rodgers' odds to be the next Ipswich manager?

Rodgers took over at Al Qadsiah in December and led them to their joint-highest Saudi Pro League finish ever as they ended the season in fourth spot.

He has lost just one of 25 matches at the club so far, which could be why he is being touted to return to English football with the Tractor Boys soon.

The 53-year-old won four Premiership titles across his two spells at Celtic, with his last Premier League stint at Leicester coming in between.

He has won 139 Premier League games out of 312 as a manager, so certainly has the pedigree to be a success at Portman Road.

One of the UK's leading bookmakers has slashed his odds to 7/2 to be their next manager, meaning he is now the third-favourite for the job.

Sources: Derek McInnes in contention to be Ipswich Town manager amid strong Rangers interest

Who else is in the running for the Ipswich job?

Sources told Football Insider that Derek McInnes was in contention to take over at Ipswich, but he now seems set to take the Rangers job as Danny Rohl departs.

Kjetil Knutsen is the current favourite with the bookies, at odds of 6/4, after impressing in charge of Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is the second favourite ahead of Rodgers at odds of 5/2, while Gary O'Neil is also a top contender at 5/1.

Brian Barry-Murphy, Liam Rosenior (8/1), Kim Hellberg (16/1) and Oliver Glasner (20/1) are all also in contention with the bookies.
