Jude Bellingham and Thomas Tuchel clash 'blown up' - 'it makes for a good story'
Jude Bellingham and Thomas Tuchel's disagreement after England beat Norway is being blown up into a bigger issue than it is.
Following their 2-1 win after extra time, Tuchel was critical of his Three Lions side's performance, as he insisted they will have to do better in their next game.
Bellingham, who scored two goals to send England into the World Cup semi-final, was left frustrated when reporters rushed to tell him of his manager's discontent.
However, former Man United assistant manager Mick Brown told Football Insider that both Tuchel and Bellingham's responses were valid and there is no deeper issue.
The boss was right to be frustrated with his side's performance on a technical level, while pushing them to improve ahead of a semi-final clash with Argentina on Wednesday.
However, Bellingham's frustration at what he was told and insistence that the players gave their all was a good response, despite what seems to be a desperation to pit them against each other.
Thomas Tuchel and Jude Bellingham clash is not a concern
Despite frustrations following the win against Norway, there are believed to be no deeper issues, with the drama being blown up well beyond the manager's initial intentions.
Both Tuchel and Bellingham set high standards for themselves and the team, so clashes are almost inevitable when performing at such a high level.
However, ahead of their semi-final clash against Lionel Messi's Argentina, the squad remain focused on the task at hand and are determined to continue their progress.
"There are certain people who want to stir up issues and drama because it makes for a good story," Brown told Football Insider.
"Jude Bellingham is what he is, he's passionate, he's not shy, he's not necessarily the most delicate, but that's not a problem by any means.
"He's just come off the pitch after playing 120 minutes in blistering heat, he's scored two goals for England to send them to a World Cup semi-final, and he's immediately told the manager wasn't happy.
"So from his point of view, it's not unsurprising that he reacted the way he did, he's going to defend his teammates and wants to focus on the positive of winning.
"From the manager's point of view as well, he can't build that performance up to be all singing all dancing, because everybody watching knows.
"Tuchel wants to encourage his side to do better, to play better from a technical standpoint when we face Argentina, and he insisted he had no questions about their mentality.
"Some people are determined to create a division there and exaggerate the difference between them, it's been blown up, but there is no issue.
"It's a storm in a teacup really, both Tuchel and Bellingham were right to say what they said, especially given the way it was put to them, and it will be behind them already.
"They're focused on the next game, against Argentina, where they will believe they have a good chance of winning."
Have there been previous issues between Tuchel and Bellingham?
Suggestions of tensions between Tuchel and Bellingham have been lingering since October 2025, when the boss left the Real Madrid superstar out of his squad.
Tuchel explained that Bellingham was left out of the squad as he had yet to reach full fitness after his recent spell on the sidelines with a shoulder injury.
However, Brown told Football Insider that the manager had concerns about Bellingham's attitude, but would hold talks to clear the air and avoid any long-term issues.
This apparent bust-up led to some claims that the midfielder shouldn't be part of the World Cup squad, but he continues to prove his doubters wrong with his displays.
Now with six goals at the World Cup, Bellingham has been hotly tipped to be named Player of the Tournanent come next Sunday, when England hope to be crowned world champions.
