Sources: Hull City agree £12.8m deal to sign Christos Mouzakitis
Hull City have agreed a deal to sign highly-rated Olympiacos star Christos Mouzakitis, sources have told Football Insider.
The Tigers have had a £12.8million bid accepted by the Greek giants, and are pushing to complete the signing of the 19-year-old ahead of tonight's transfer deadline.
Mouzakitis will now travel to the MKM Stadium to undergo a medical and put the finishing touches on his terms before his move to the Premier League is finalised.
The midfielder is very highly regarded in European football after he made 39 appearances for Olympiacos last season, including ten in the Champions League.
Hull have now moved ahead of a number of rival clubs to agree a fee for his services, and are pushing to get the deal completed today.
Mouzakitis' contract at Olympiacos has been set to run until 2029, but after being made aware of his potential availability, Hull have now agreed to lure him away.
Why are Hull City signing Christos Mouzakitis?
Football Insider revealed ahead of the January transfer window that Man United have been keeping a close eye on Mouzakitis, with Real Madrid also watching his performances.
Hull City have now moved to beat both giant clubs to his signature, in what is regarded as a major coup, with the teenager's development set to continue in the Premier League.
His performances in the Champions League had set Europe's top clubs on high alert, and they are likely to continue to track his performances after his move to Hull.
The Tigers have enjoyed a busy transfer window, with 13 players already brought in as Sergej Jakirovic aims to bolster his squad following a winning return to life in the Premier League.
Signing a new midfielder has been high on the boss' list of targets this summer, with the position seen as an area for improvement in the top flight.
Mouzakitis is seen as a major improvement on their current options, and Hull are now pushing hard to ensure he moves to the MKM Stadium before the close of play today.
Which other deals are set to take place at Hull today?
Hull are bracing for a busy transfer deadline day, coming at the end of what has been a big window following their promotion to the Premier League.
Both incoming and outgoing deals have been discussed in the closing stages, after former West Ham scout Mick Brown told Football Insider they could move to sign Ryan Giles.
This comes after they saw a loan-to-buy offer rejected by the Tigers earlier this week, after his impressive start to their Premeir League campaign.
However, Hull and Jakirovic are determined to prevent the left-back leaving before tonight's deadline given his importance to their ambitious plans in the top flight.
Jakirovic has been clear that he does not want to lose Giles before the transfer deadline, as he remains an important part of his plans, in a blow to West Ham's pursuit.
