What England need to do to secure easy World Cup Round of 32 match after win vs Croatia
England's World Cup got underway in style with 4-2 victory over Croatia on Wednesday night in Dallas.
Jude Bellingham and Marcus Rashford scored on top of Harry Kane's brace to cancel out first-half goals by Martin Baturina and Petar Musa, securing the Three Lions their first three points this summer.
The victory has put England in control of group L, although their opponents next week, Ghana, beat Panama via Caleb Yirenkyi's 95th-minute winner.
Thomas Tuchel's team have faced numerous questions in the build up to the tournament, but they looked at their free-flowing best on Wednesday.
FIFA's fourth-ranked side took 22 shots and produced a massive 3.20 expected goals, with only goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic standing between an embarrassing score line for the Croatians.
There are defensive questions to answer for England and Tuchel, however, with Marc Guehi likely to be in with a chance to start against Ghana.
Who can England play in the round of 32?
Despite Ghana's late win, England may still only need to win one of their final two games to top group L.
That will not be the mindset for Tuchel or the squad, however, who will want to beat Ghana on Tuesday before securing their place at the top against Panama.
Should they do that, the Three Lions will face one of the eight teams qualifying for the knockout stages in third place of their respective groups.
That round of 32 game will be played on 1 July, and will be against a team from group E, H, I, J or K.
Barring huge upsets and off the balance of the first games, England's most likely round of 32 opponents consist of one of Ivory Coast, Ecuador, Saudi Arabia, Uruguay, Norway, Senegal, Austria, Algeria, Colombia or DR Congo.
England's most likely round of 16 opponent
Should England make it past their eventual round of 32 opponent, they will face the winner of group A or their opponent, who will come from group C, E, F, H or I.
Group A is currently led by co-hosts Mexico, while South Korea also won their opening game.
Czechia will still favour their chances of winning their final two games, but Javier Aguirre's side are the favourites to top the group.
They will, save for an unexpected opponent, be favourites for their round of 32 clash, too, setting up a showdown with England at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City.
