Pundit: Arsenal will strike gold by signing Ben White amid Ornstein update
Noel Whelan insists Ben White is just what Arsenal have been missing after David Ornstein reported the club’s interest.
The former Leeds hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claims the defender could be worth double whatever the Gunners bid for him in a few years time.
On 11th June, Ornstein reported in The Athletic that Arsenal are preparing a move for White and he could cost between £40 and £50million.
🚨 Arsenal preparing move for Brighton defender Ben White. No club-to-club contact yet but expected in due course. Could take ~£40-50m — unlikely to be insurmountable for #AFC. Interest 1st reported by @johncrossmirror. W/ @gunnerblog @TheAthleticUK #BHAFC https://t.co/vYS2KG9rs5

White, 23, is currently on international duty with England after he replaced Trent Alexander-Arnold in Gareth Southgate’s Euro 2020 squad.
He spent last season with Brighton after strong summer interest from Leeds United.
Whelan insists Arsenal will be getting a great deal if they can snag White for £40million.

“He’s a player who can definitely benefit Arsenal,” Whelan told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“He’s fantastic on the ball. White is one of the England defenders for the future. I think he will be in that squad for a very long time.
“He has everything you need from a modern-day centre half and he can play that role in front of the back four.
“Great stature, good in the air, great pace about him, he’s what Arsenal have been missing. Some pace at the back.
“He offers everything and for £40million pounds, I guarantee you he’ll be worth double that in two or three years time.
“If they do get that over the line they are getting a fantastic centre half at a great age.”
White made 36 Premier League appearances for the Seagulls last season.
He started his career in Southampton’s academy before moving to Brighton in 2014.
