Pundit backs Dominic Calvert-Lewin to explode at Everton after teammate's claim

Dominic Calvert-Lewin may soon find his best form at Everton thanks to Alex Iwobi.

That’s according to former Leeds United hitman Noel Whelan, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 26-year-old’s form.

Iwobi notched two assists as Everton beat Crystal Palace 3-0 on Saturday (22 October), taking his tally for the season to five.

Speaking on the Everton club site on Sunday (23 October), the midfielder claimed he feels “almost unstoppable” following his impressive start to the season.

Whelan claims Iwobi’s form could now get the best out of Calvert-Lewin, who has recently returned from injury.

“It is a result that has been on its way for Everton, I think they needed a good, convincing win like that,” Whelan told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.

“Iwobi just seems to be thriving in that position now. He looks like he has that belief and that confidence about his game.

“His assists show the good form that he is actually in. It’s good that you have someone in there who is forward-thinking.

“It helps the forward line, it will definitely help Dominic Calvert-Lewin, having someone close to him who he can feed off.

“Look, stats don’t lie and he has obviously been in a good run of form playing in a position that is benefitting everybody.

Iwobi has started all 12 of Everton’s Premier League games this season.

Frank Lampard’s side are next in action against Fulham on Saturday (29 October).
