Alan Hutton is surprised by how good Oleksandr Zinchenko has been for Arsenal this season.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender insisted Zinchenko is a massively important part of the Gunners' title charge this season.

The 26-year-old was in the starting lineup for Mikel Arteta's side once again in the 3-2 victory over Man United on Sunday (22 January).

As relayed by Opta (22 January), the left-back had 85 touches in the game against United, more touches of the ball in than any other player.

The Ukraine international joined the London club from Man City back in July in a deal worth £32million.

As quoted by the Mirror (23 January), at the start of the season Zinchenko said that he urged his teammates to start to thinking about the title.

The defender said the dressing room laughed at his suggestion but they now believe that they have a chance of Premier League glory.

Hutton was also full of praise for Zinchenko after what he's seen so far.

"I always knew he was a good player but I never realised he was that good," he told Football Insider.

"It sounds stupid to say but he is such an important player for Arsenal.

"He has taken his form from City to Arsenal where he likes to come inside, he links up play, gets down the line. It looks like he is a leader within there."

Zinchenko has made 15 appearances for Arteta's side so far this season and has provided one assist in those outings.

Next up, the Gunners face their title challengers Man City in the FA Cup on Friday (27 January).
