Kevin Campbell has claimed Dele Alli’s Tottenham freeze-out is a “huge waste of talent”.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gunners striker and lifelong supporter is a big fan of the attacking midfielder at his old club’s big rivals.
Jose Mourinho’s side are third in the Premier League after seven matches of the campaign but Alli has been reduced for star man to virtual spectator.
The 24-year-old has had only 66 minutes of league action this season and most of his game time has come in the Europa League.
He was on the 12-man bench for tonight’s away clash against Ludogorets even Jose Mourinho fielded a weakened side that did not include the likes of Hugo Lloris, Son Heung-Min, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Tanguy Ndombele.
Asked by Football Insider what has gone wrong so spectacularly for Alli at Tottenham, Campbell said: “I think there’s been a clash of personalities with Mourinho myself.
“Dele Alli has been a mainstay under Pochettino for the glory times at Spurs, wins everything but trophies and he’s looked the part.
“He’s not kicking a ball in anger really and you look at what the difference is and the only difference is a new management team has come in.
“Are they asking him to do things he’s not happy with? Is it a clash of personalities? Maybe it’s a clash of personalities.
“Dele Alli is a good player, he’s a really good player but if he’s not playing he’s got to go somewhere and play because Dele Alli not playing is a huge waste of talent.”
