Pundit cites Joe Cole as 'big' Rangers injury blow confirmed on Instagram
Kemar Roofe will be a “big miss” for Rangers after he suffered an “annoying” injury setback, according to Alan Hutton.
The former Gers defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 28-year-old “offers so much” to Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side.
Roofe took to his Instagram on Tuesday (14 December) to inform fans he had suffered an injury “setback”, and promised to continue “fighting to come back a better version of myself”.
This news comes after Van Bronckhorst confirmed that the striker would be unavailable for Sunday’s 2-0 win over Hearts with an unspecified injury problem.
It also comes at a time when Ryan Jack was ruled out until after the winter break.
Hutton suggested Roofe may have developed a “tendency to break down” based on his experience with the likes of Joe Cole.

“I’ve seen it multiple times in my career, there are certain players who just have a tendency to break down,” he told Football Insider‘s Russell Edge.
“The most annoying thing is that it always seems to be the players who are very talented. That’s what’s really frustrating.
“I played with the likes of Joe Cole. He was constantly breaking down with hamstring injuries and little nicks here and there. It’s just frustrating for everybody.
“Kemar Roofe offers so much to Rangers. Not just his ability but his work rate, his endeavour and everything that comes with it. He’s a big miss when he’s not there.
“For him to pick up these niggly injuries, you do really feel for him and Rangers – they need him.”
Roofe has netted 10 goals in 20 Rangers matches this season.
The 28-year-old signed for the Gers from Anderlecht in August 2020.
