Alan Hutton has claimed Jurgen Klopp's emotions got the better of him after Liverpool were beaten 3-1 by Brentford on Monday (2 January).

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender said he understood Klopp's frustrations following the defeat.

As shown on Sky Sports (2 January), Bryan Mbuemo made contact with Ibrahima Konate which caused him to go to ground in the lead up to the Bees' third goal.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Klopp insisted that his defender was fouled and accused VAR of "hiding" during the contentious moment and claimed the goal should not have been allowed to stand.

Hutton suggested Klopp overreacted to the situation given the result of the game.

"The thing that you need to remember with Klopp is that he is a very emotional guy," he told Football Insider.

"I think when you have interviews directly after and you have just been beaten, he is going to be angry and come out and say things.

"He was talking about little shoves and pushes and things at corners. Is there a shove? Yeah there is a little nudge but it happens all the time.

"Strikers do it all the time, as soon as a defender jumps for the ball there is a little nudge in the back, you get caught under the ball and they get it. It happens all the time it is part of the game but I do understand his frustration."
