Alan Hutton has suggested Odsonne Edouard has held talks with his agent over a potential transfer out of Celtic in January.
The former Rangers and Scotland defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, insisted the 22-year-old has looked like he “wants to move on” in his recent appearances for the Bhoys.
The French striker has started five times and scored three goals since returning to action after a positive Covid-19 test.
However, Edouard’s form in front of goal has not been enough to prevent the Hoops from picking up just one win in the last seven games he has featured in.
Hutton admitted that, on his day, the French forward can be a menace in attack but suggested recent performances suggested his head may have been turned.
Hutton told Football Insider: “We had all the talks about Edouard at the start of season wanting to leave – has his head been on it? Has he been the same player that he was last year? No.
“Yes, we see moments of brilliance but not of the impact of last season. I’m a massive admirer of him, I think he’s a fantastic player, he was definitely the difference last season in some of the Old Firm games.
“He gives you that bit of brilliance and we have seen it, he’s scored some tremendous goals even this season but he doesn’t always look that interested.
“Whether he’s got someone in his ear saying: ‘Play your way, do your thing up until January or the summer and then we’ll move you on,’ I don’t know if those conversations have happened.
“He’s a massive asset, he will be worth a lot of money but it looks like he wants to move on.”
