Paul Robinson is adamant Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho will bring Davinson Sanchez out from the cold following Toby Alderweireld's injury.

The former White Hart Lane number one, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, encouraged Sanchez, 24, to take his "big chance" and show why he still has a future of the club.

Mourinho told Sky Sports after the win against Manchester City that Alderweireld have suffered a “bad” and “difficult” injury to suggest that he will likely be sidelined for a substantial period.

Sanchez has failed to make the last four Premier League matchday squads despite starting four of the first five league games of the 2020/21 campaign.

Robinson insisted summer signing Joe Rodon is ahead of Sanchez in Mourinho's plans.

"Jose Mourinho has an abundance of talent to choose from," he told Football Insider.

"Joe Rodon is clearly ahead of Davinson Sanchez in the pecking order at the moment but Sanchez will get his chance again at some point as a result of the injury to Toby.

"It looks like Toby will be sidelined for a few weeks or a month or so.

"I think Rodon will come in but the whole squad will have to be utilised over the festive period.

"I suspect that Sanchez will be given another opportunity over the next few weeks and it will be a big chance for him.

"He has been frozen out. He has not been making the squads but this is his opportunity to show the manager that he has a future at Spurs."
