Pundit expects Everton to rocket up the Premier League after unprecedented Gray reveal

Gabby Agbonlahor has insisted Everton must use their win over Arsenal as a turning point in their season.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed Everton “shouldn’t be anywhere near” the bottom of the table and the Goodison Park faithful can help them continue to rocket up the league.

The fans had organised a protest during the 27th minute of their 2-1 win over Arsenal but were left thrilled after Demarai Gray’s stoppage-time winner.

Gray told Sky Sports after the game it was a “crazy moment” and he had not seen an atmosphere like it at Goodison Park.

“It has to be the turning point,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“Every time I played against Everton at Goodison Park it was one of the toughest games. It’s a fortress, Goodison Park. Small pitch with the fans very close. It was always a tough place to go and play football. You knew you were in a game.

“They had that about them yesterday, tackles, pressing. That’s what they did to Arsenal and won the game.

“It’s what Everton fans will want to see going forward. You might not have the best at team but when you’re playing at home with home advantage, that can get you the points.

“I think it can be a turn for Everton. They shouldn’t be anywhere near where they are in the league, they should be higher, for sure, and they can fly up the league.”

The win over Arsenal leaves the Toffees in 12th position in the Premier League.

They are now just five points behind Mikel Arteta’s side in seventh.

In other news, Dominic Calvert-Lewin played a key role in an Everton man’s exit after a bust-up last month.
