Pundit fears Trent Alexander-Arnold shattered at Liverpool after update today

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will be “very disappointed” that Trent Alexander-Arnold was not used by England during the international break.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Gareth Southgate’s latest decision.

As per Rob Dorsett on Monday morning (26 September), Alexander-Arnold has not been included in England’s matchday squad to face Germany.

The 23-year-old right-back, who has been criticised for his start to the season with Liverpool, did not feature against Italy on Friday (23 September).

Kenny fears Alexander-Arnold’s confidence could be shattered after this latest blow.

“That’s the only problem sometimes, these players go away on international duty and then aren’t involved,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“It can be difficult. Going forward, we all know what Trent Alexander-Arnold can do. Defensively he has these lapses which can be very costly this season already for Liverpool this season.

“As a manager, you would be very disappointed that your player has gone away and won’t play a game when you could have been working on things back on the training ground.

“Especially a player who has been poor and someone who needs confidence. He won’t be getting that by not playing for England, it will be the opposite.

Alexander-Arnold has started all six of Liverpool’s Premier League games this term as well as their two Champions League clashes.

He was heavily criticised for his performance in 7 September’s 4-0 loss to Napoli.
