Pundit furious after latest Newcastle dressing room 'leak'

Alan Hutton has slammed whoever is behind the dressing room “leaks” at Newcastle United.

The former Scotland defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted airing the club’s dirty laundry in public “helps nobody”.

As reported by the Daily Mail (18th October), Isaac Hayden and Jamaal Lascelles came to blows in the St James’ Park tunnel after defeat to Tottenham last week.

The Newcastle squad reportedly complained about Steve Bruce’s tactics in the dressing room.

The same newspaper reported back in March Bruce and Matt Ritchie were involved in a training ground bust-up.

Hutton insisted fights between players happen frequently at all clubs.

He blasted whoever was leaking information out of St James’ Park.

“We’re hearing of fights in the tunnel, unrest among the squad,” Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge.

“The thing with football is it doesn’t matter what team you’re at, stuff will come out. Whether it be team formations, team lineups, it always manages to worm its way out.

“With Newcastle, everything comes out. Every little bust-up. The Ritchie thing with the manager not that long ago, it always comes out.

“I don’t know why. There’s obviously someone talking or letting things leak out constantly. That doesn’t help.

“It helps nobody because everybody then sees the inner workings of the club and what’s going on. By the way, this happens all the time.

“Fights on the training ground, fights in the tunnel, the changing room, it always happens.

“We never read about it because it’s sorted within camp. That is it, you move on.

“But Newcastle is just different. It always seems to come out.”
