Pundit hails 'brilliant' Liverpool 'signing' after what he's seen from Jota

Paul Robinson has heaped praise on the “quite brilliant” Diogo Jota after Liverpool qualified for the semi-finals of the League Cup on Wednesday night.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one said the 25-year-old “is getting better and better” for the Reds.

Jota starred for Jurgen Klopp’s side in a penalty shoutout win over Leicester City at Anfield last night.

The Portugal international scored the winning penalty as well as in normal normal time after coming on as a second-half substitute.

Liverpool will now face Arsenal in the semi-finals of the competition next month.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his assessment of the Jota’s form, Robinson said: “Jota is just getting better and better.

“I’m impressed every time I watch him.

“There was always a lot of talk about who could break that front three and a lot of people thought nobody could. Jota has done the seemingly impossible.

“The club definitely did their due diligence on him because his attitude on and off the field is exemplary. He fits into that team perfectly.

“His movement on and off the ball is quite brilliant and he always looks like he is going to score. What a signing he’s proved to be.”

Jota has contributed 12 goals and two assists in 22 appearances across all competitions this season.

Mohamed Salah is the only player to score more goals than Jota in the Premier League this season.

In other news, Campbell is left fuming over a Liverpool development which ‘makes a mockery’ of the Premier League.
