Pundit hails 'massive' Celtic development after Rangers latest
Kevin Phillips claims Celtic are two signings away from being able to challenge Rangers for the title this season.
The Sunderland legend, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, reacted as the Hoops’ impressive form continues.
Celtic beat Hearts in the Scottish League Cup on Sunday (15th August), extending their winning streak to four games.
Ange Postecoglou failed to win any of his first three competitive matches after taking the reigns at Parkhead.
However, two wins against Jablonec and another against Dundee meant Celtic went into yesterday’s game with some momentum.
Phillips insists you can’t underestimate how important confidence is when you’re looking to challenge for titles.

“Confidence is massive, it’s huge,” Phillips told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“People weren’t sure about the manager at first, they didn’t know him.
“Then he has the tricky start and that panic sets in.
“It’s massive for Celtic to get those wins on the board and put that run of form together.
“They have a striker who can’t stop scoring, they had a 6-0 win last week.
“Things like that just breed confidence in a football team, it’s so important.
“Rangers’ recent form will have them bouncing as well.
“I think Celtic are a couple of good signings away from challenging Rangers, I really do.”
Summer signing Kyogo Furuhashi was on the scoresheet again for Celtic’s 3-2 win against Hearts.
This means he now has five goals in just four starts in all competitions for his new club.
