Pundit hails 'unbelievable' Abada after 'brilliant' thing he spotted at Celtic
Frank McAvennie was blown away by Liel Abada’s performance in Celtic v St Johnstone on Boxing Day.
The former Hoops hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, was wowed by the attacker’s improvement over the festive period.
Abada, 20, scored two goals as Celtic eased past St Johnstone with a 3-1 win on Boxing Day.
This took his tally for the season to 10 goals to go along with his eight assists.
He also played as a striker in 22 December’s 0-0 draw with St Mirren and McAvennie was not impressed with what he saw.
The former Celtic man was blown away by the player’s improvement just four days later.

“You know what, I’m glad this break has come early,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“The boy is only 20 and he’s been asked to do a lot because of injuries through the squad.
“When I watched him against St Mirren, he didn’t make any runs. Kyogo always makes those runs.
“Ange has clearly told him to make those runs against St Johnstone and it paid off.
“He got in and he scored a couple of goals. The movement brought him space.
“He has learned that now, that was brilliant to see. The movement was unbelievable against St Johnstone but rubbish against St Mirren.
“Hopefully he can get a rest now and recover ahead of the rest of the season.
“He has been brilliant for us but he looks absolutely shattered.”
Abada has made 32 appearances for Celtic.
He joined from Maccabi Petah Tikva in the summer of 2021.
