Pundit issues 'big' Marcus Rashford claim after expert's Man United reveal

Man United need Marcus Rashford back as soon as possible amid an update on his fitness.

That’s according to former Rangers and Scotland boss Alex McLeish, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the attacker’s potential return.

Rashford, 24, has not played since his two-goal appearance in the 3-1 win over Arsenal earlier this month (4 September).

The attacker explained via Twitter on 5 September that a hamstring injury meant he was unavailable for England selection.

On 19 September, medical expert and Football Insider pundit Ben Dinnery told this site that Rashford could return for Man United’s next game, against Man City on 2 October.

McLeish insists Rashford must return for the “big game”.

“He needs to keep his form going, simple,” McLeish told Football Insider’s Ben Wild.

“He was a precocious youngster for them and I have seen this many times with those players. They go right off the mountain and they are fantastic for a year or two.

“They then plateau and the thing is, when you have a guy with his salt, he comes back again. That is what Rashford is on the verge of doing right now.

“But he has to keep that going. He’s important for them now and they need him back for that big game.”

Rashford has scored three goals and provided two assists in six Premier League outings this season.

Last term he scored four goals in 25 top flight appearances.
