Pundit issues 'brutally honest' Benitez sack verdict after Everton latest
Alan Hutton has insisted Rafael Benitez must be under threat of the sack at Everton after a run of poor performances and results.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Scotland defender admitted the Spaniard’s “boring” brand of football would see fans and the club turn against him.
Monday’s 2-1 defeat to Wolves means the Toffees have won just once in seven games across all competitions.
That includes two home losses to West Ham and Watford and a penalty shoot-out defeat to QPR in the League Cup.
The Merseyside outfit, who won three of their opening five league games, sit 10th in the table.
Hutton admitted recent results would put pressure on Benitez.

However, he suggested the dull football on show is the biggest concern for the Spaniard.
Asked if he thought Benitez is under threat of the sack at Goodison Park, Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “I think he will be. That kind of comes with the territory.
“Obviously, with everything in his past and Liverpool, there will have been some murmurs at the beginning, fans not really happy with it.
“Because they got off to a decent start, everything was okay. But if you’re not winning games and you’re not playing well, it can quickly turn.
“The more worrying thing is the way they play. It was boring to watch, if I’m brutally honest, and I don’t think the fans will be happy with that.
“So yeah, he will be under pressure if this continues.”
Everton play host to Tottenham before this month’s international break.
Trips to Manchester City and Brentford precede a Merseyside derby at Goodison Park at the start of December.
