Pundit issues 'guaranteed' Liverpool-Jude Bellingham claim as deal possible this summer

Gabby Agbonlahor has tipped Jude Bellingham to choose Liverpool as his next club as there is a place in the starting XI “ready-made for him”.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker delivered his verdict as Liverpool continue to work on signing the 19-year-old.

Sources told Football Insider on Saturday (30 July) that the Reds are confident of agreeing a deal with Borussia Dortmund after new talks.

The German giants will not sell him this summer but Liverpool could agree a deal within weeks that would see Bellingham move to Anfield in 2023.

That could be early as January but it is more likely to be next summer.

The Merseyside giants struck a similar deal with RB Leipzig for Naby Keita in August 2017 before he made the move the following year.

Ironically, Agbonlahor believes Bellingham would be an ideal replacement for Keita.

He told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “It depends on him and where he wants to go.

“Some players have the dream of playing at Real Madrid and that’s the route he goes down.

“But Real Madrid have some very good midfielders now. Camavinga, a very good midfielder, Kroos and Modric are still in there, Cassemiro as well.

“But I think he will choose Liverpool because he will see a guaranteed starter position ready-made for him – Keita out, Bellingham in.

“I think he would choose Liverpool because he knows there’s a great chance of winning a lot of trophies there.”

Bellingham has scored 11 times and provided 18 assists in 91 games across all competitions for Borussia Dortmund.

The England international has three years left to run on his Dortmund contract.
