Pundit issues 'massive' Josip Juranovic transfer claim after Celtic source's 'surprise' reveal

Alan Hutton has admitted he would be “very surprised” if Celtic allow Josip Juranovic to leave during the January transfer window.

The former Scotland international, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested it would take a “massive amount of money” to tempt the Bhoys into selling the 27-year-old mid-season.

Parkhead sources told Football Insider last week (17 November) that Celtic have given Juranovic the green light to leave in the winter window after failing in their efforts to tie him down to a new contract.

The Croatia international is keen to listen to offers from elite clubs and the Hoops are willing to cash in if their asking price is met.

However, Hutton suggested the fee would have to be “through the roof” for Celtic to consider selling.

“I’d be very surprised if it was in January,” Hutton told Football Insider.

“Unless it was for a massive amount of money that would make Celtic sit up and wonder if it would be a good option.

“I think he’s come in and done ever so well so far. He’s obviously taken that right-back spot, Ralston is there as back up.

“For everything that Celtic are doing at this moment time, going for the league, going for trophies, I don’t see why you’d want to leave that mid-season.

“The summer isn’t that far away. The only reason, I think, would be that the money is through the roof and they couldn’t say no. They would want to keep hold of their prized assets until at least the end of the season.”

Juranovic joined Celtic in the summer of 2021 and is contracted until 2026.
