Pundit issues two-word Liverpool verdict after Andy Robertson news confirmed

Paul Robinson has claimed there is “no chance” of Kostantinos Tsimikas overtaking Andy Robertson in the pecking order at Liverpool.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England goalkeeper insisted Robertson, 28, will return to the starting XI when he recovers from injury.

Robertson is currently sidelined with a knee injury suffered in training earlier this month.

Tsimikas replaced the Scotland international against Ajax last Tuesday (13 September) and impressed as the Reds ran out 2-1 winners.

As announced by the Scottish FA (13 September), Robertson has been left out of the Scotland squad for Nations League games against Ukraine and the Republic of Ireland.

He is in contention to return for Liverpool’s game against Brighton on 1 October.

When asked by Football Insider if Tsimikas could replace Robertson as first choice at Anfield, Robinson said: “No chance.

“Robertson is a top-class full-back and a top-class player.

“Everyone is forgetting that Liverpool played in every game they possibly could last season. They won two finals on penalties, got to the final of the Champions League and ran City close in the Premier League.

“You do not become a bad team overnight. Yes, there is problems but it is nothing they cannot fix.

“It is the same with Robertson. He has not become a bad player overnight.

“Tsimikas is a brilliant replacement and is a great option to have. That is why the manager bought him. I think he is better going forward but Robertson is still the first choice for me.”
