Pundit issues 'unbelievable' Richarlison claim after what he's seen at Tottenham

Richarlison is thriving at Tottenham because he has better players around him.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about eh Brazilian’s start to life at Spurs.

Richarlison started as Tottenham fell to a 2-0 defeat against Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League on Tuesday (13 September).

The former Everton man caused plenty of problems for the Portuguese side though he was flagged offside three times in the first half.

On one of those occasions, he thought he had given his new side the lead as he rounded the Sporting keeper and rolled the ball into the empty net before the flag went up.

Despite his blank, Kenny has been impressed by Richarlison’s start to life at Spurs.

“He’s an unbelievable player on his day,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“No disrespect to Everton but he is playing with better players now. You hope they will bring the best out of him.

“It’s looking that way at the moment. He had a goal disallowed in the Premier League the other week and he got himself those goals in Europe.

“It was a very emotional moment for him because I think it has probably been his dream to play in the Champions League and to score goals in it.

“He’s doing well and looking like the player we all expect him to be.”

Richarlison scored twice on his Champions League debut against Marseille last week (7 September).

He is yet to score in the league for Tottenham.
