Pundit lambasts Liverpool amid 'disgusting' development
Liverpool and other “big clubs” have been slammed for backing proposals that would see FA Cup replays scrapped.
Former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claims the changes are disrespectful to lower league clubs.
As per The Times (19 September), Premier League clubs are backing proposals that would see significant changes introduced to the formats of the FA and League Cups.
The new proposals would see FA Cup replays scrapped and would give clubs competing in Europe the option to opt out of competing in the League Cup.
Instead, sides playing in Europe would see their Under-21s compete in the competition.
Kenny is against the move.

“I think it’s disgusting,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“How can you take away replays? These smaller clubs try to get a draw, well, they try to win but they will take a draw at home in the FA Cup to get that payday away at a big club like Liverpool.
“That is important to a lot of players and clubs. There are a lot of games for clubs like Liverpool but they have big enough squads, don’t they?
“Do you know what I mean? Playing the Under-21s in the Carabao Cup, what a load of rubbish that is. This is a big club, can’t you get into Europe by winning the cups?
“That could be your way in if you aren’t doing well enough in the league. To think they want to just play the Under-21s, I think it’s disrespectful to all the lower league sides.”
Liverpool won both the FA Cup and League Cup last season.
Their League Cup defence begins against Derby County on 9 November.
