Pundit: Leeds set for 'big' Phillips payday amid '£90m' source reveal

Leeds United and West Ham are in for “big paydays” when they cash in on Kalvin Phillips and Declan Rice, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker suggested both players were watching Paris Saint-Germain play Man City last night and will want to be a part of the Champions League next season.

A West Ham source told Football Insider that the club are planning to sell Rice for around £90million after he turned down multiple contract offers.

Meanwhile, this site revealed earlier this month (September 16) Leeds have opened new contract talks with Phillips.

A United source has updated to tell Football Insider Phillips is keen to put pen to paper on an extension before the end of the year.

“You have to be realistic if you’re West Ham or a West Ham fan and also if you’re Leeds or a Leeds fan,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“Aston Villa lost Jack Grealish, West Ham will lose Declan Rice and Kalvin Phillips will leave Leeds.

“These players will love the clubs they are at but they will also want to play in the big competitions. They will have been watching last night Paris Saint-German v Man City and be thinking ‘I want to play in that team, that Man City holding midfield spot, I could fit in there’.

“You understand them not signing new contracts and wanting to leave. The way they are playing, West Ham and Leeds are heading for big paydays for both of them.

“You see other people playing in those games and you want to do that too. They’ll lose them, definitely.”

In other news, Marcelo Bielsa has been told to sign six Leeds United players in January after another injury is confirmed.
