Pundit makes Celtic 'miracle' transfer claim after confirmed Edouard news
Alan Hutton has admitted Celtic need a “miracle” if Ange Postecoglou is to convince Odsonne Edouard and Kristoffer Ajer to stay past the summer.
The former Scotland defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested it would be best to move the wantaway stars on ahead of the new season.
Speaking at his first press conference as manager (June 26th), Postecoglou revealed he planned to hold talks with both Ajer and Edouard over their futures at Parkhead.
He refused to rule out the pair staying and insisted he would do the best thing for the Bhoys.
Both Ajer and Edouard are out of contract next summer.
As such, Celtic face the prospect of losing both on a free.
Hutton suggested Postecoglou should sanction the exit of the wantaway duo rather than try sweet talk them into staying.
Asked if Postecoglou could change the pair’s mind about leaving, Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “It’d be a miracle. New manager, he’s probably going to tell them everything that they want to hear.
“He’ll say they’re going to be the main part of the team. That he wants to build a team around them, which is right. He’s not lying to them, that’s the truth.
“I just think that ship has sailed now. These are boys that have been trying to go for a long time. They want to play their football elsewhere, they want to challenge themselves in a different league.
“That’s fine but I think their hearts have been set on a move for a while.
“When you’re thinking that way, it’s probably best for everybody involved to to move them on, get the money and then reinvest in the squad.”
