Pundit makes 'exciting' claim as Romano reports Tottenham big announcement
Noel Whelan claims Paulo Fonseca needs at least six months at Tottenham before being judged by the fans.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, admits his potential appointment is far from inspiring.
On Monday 14th June, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano claimed Fonseca will sign with Tottenham before Wednesday this week.
Paulo Fonseca is expected to sign his contract as new Tottenham manager within Wednesday. Daniel Levy has approved the decision, Fabio Paratici wanted him strongly. New era set to start for Spurs. ⚪️🇵🇹 #THFC #Spurs

Romano also claimed new Tottenham director of football Fabio Paratici “wanted him strongly”.
Fonseca, 48, left Roma last season and was replaced by recently-fired Spurs boss Jose Mourinho.
Paratici comes to Spurs well regarded after spending the last 11 years in various executive roles at Juventus.

When asked if Paratici pushing Fonseca’s appointment is a good sign for Spurs fans, Whelan told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild, “Only time will tell.
“He needs six months. Give him six months then you can judge him properly. The club is a complete unknown at the moment.
“Is Harry Kane going to be there? There’s a lot of rebuilding needed. Can they win the league? No.
“Can they win a domestic cup? Probably not. Daniel Levy is looking at a three-year progression.
“He wants this to be the start of a period of progression. He tried that with Mourinho and he didn’t do it.
“It’s a big job at the moment and Fonseca needs to win over the fans very quickly.
“He’s not an exciting appointment and he’s under pressure already. I’m just glad the manager thing is nearly over, it needs to stop now.”
Fonseca will essentially swap places with Mourinho if he takes the Spurs job.
Tottenham sacked the Portuguese in April, just days before the Carabao Cup final.
