Pundit 'massively relieved' by Phillips news emerging from Leeds
Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa will be “massively relieved” to have Kalvin Phillips available for selection, according to Noel Whelan.
The former Whites striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 25-year-old is a “crucial player” for the Yorkshire side.
Bielsa sent Leeds United fans into a frenzy when he substituted Phillips at half-time during Saturday’s 0-0 draw against Brighton (November 27th).
However, the Whites boss confirmed after the game that the switch was purely a tactical one – and assured fans today that the England international is available for selection against Crystal Palace on Tuesday (November 30th).
Phillips missed matches against Wolves and Southampton last month with a calf injury.
Whelan insisted the midfielder will have a “big part to play” as the Whites face Crystal Palace and Brentford at Elland Road this week.

“It’s a massive relief because we know how integral he is to this Leeds United side,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.
“He’s going to have a big part to play in these two tough games, we’re going to need him at his best.
“He’s a crucial player who plays a role like no other. To have him fit and ready to go is so important, and he will be desperate to get three points in these two home games.
“The fans will have a massive part to play in that as well.”
Phillips has made 224 appearances for Leeds United, scoring 14 goals.
The midfielder already has 19 England caps after making his Three Lions debut only last September.
