Pundit names two players he's certain Aston Villa will sign in January after source's reveal

Unai Emery is almost certain to raid Villarreal in January as he looks to reshape his Aston Villa squad.

That’s according to former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Villa’s January plans.

On Sunday (20 November) sources told Football Insider that Villa have set their sights on Chukwueze, who Emery knows well from his time at Villarreal, and are keeping close tabs on his situation.

It is understood the Spanish boss is also keen to lure Pau Torres from Villarreal as he looks to bring in a new centre-back.

“I think he will go back,” McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.

“They are players he knows very well in terms of what they can do and what he can bring to the team.

“When you get off to a good start, and he has gotten off to a great start, then it buys you a bit of credit with the board.

“I think they will back him if he wants to sign those two players. Aston Villa did spend money in the summer but I think they will try and bring in two or three this winter.

“Villarreal are a small club in Spain. I don’t think the players will be earning a load of money. So Aston Villa could double or treble their wage.

“If the fees are right then I think you will see those players arriving.”

Emery has won both of his league games in charge of his new side, most recently disposing of Brighton 2-1 at the Amex (13 November).

Villa went into the World Cup break 12th in the Premier League, five points off the relegation zone.
