Newcastle fans told to 'show some respect' after 'very strange' reveal - pundit
Newcastle United fans need to show more respect to Steve Bruce, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker launched a defence of his former boss after the Newcastle fans chanted for him to be sacked against Leeds United.
After a shaky start at St. James’ Park, Bruce’s side put in a solid display to earn a 1-1 draw with the side that finished ninth in the Premier League last term.
Despite the performance on the pitch, the Athletic report the Newcastle fans were imminently chanting for his head.
“Newcastle fans need to show more respect for Steve Bruce,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“No other manager could have got a better performance out of Newcastle’s team against Leeds. I thought Newcastle were very good. They went through a rough patch at the start and they got through it and played really well.

“The fans that were singing for them to sack Steve Bruce during the game need to wake up.
“Steve Bruce is doing an outstanding job with the players that he’s got. They were very attacking as well.
“So, I just found it strange, a strange set of supporters.
“What do they expect from their team? It’s very strange with the team that they’ve got and the money they’ve spent, what do they want?
“Steve Bruce is guaranteed to keep them up as long as he’s got his squad available.”
Bruce guided the Magpies to a 12th-place finish last term, 17 points above the relegation zone.
They currently sit third from bottom with two points from their opening five Premier League games.
