Alan Hutton can't see Jurgen Klopp taking charge at Newcastle United.

But, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender said that you can never predict what will happen in football.

On Saturday (26 November), sources told this site that Klopp is "obsessed" with Newcastle amid growing doubts over his Liverpool future.

The Reds boss has reaffirmed his commitment to the club in recent weeks after owners Fenway Sports Group put the club up for sale.

The level of interest has even led to whispers that the 55-year-old wants to take on the Newcastle job when he eventually leaves Anfield.

Klopp signed an extension in April which keeps him at Liverpool until 2026 but there is growing uncertainty as the hierarchy could be set for a massive shake-up.

When asked if the Newcastle job could be something Klopp is thinking about, Hutton told Football Insider: "I could not see it but you never know.

"Football is a strange game. I have always said that as soon as the takeover happened at Newcastle that it was always going to be difficult.

"But it looks like they have the right guy in charge at the moment, they are playing the right football and it looks like it is working really well.

"We are seeing some incredible performances on the pitch. They are doing it all at a steady pace, they are not spending £100million on players, they are getting proven Premier League players with a little sprinkling of some magic dust to make them that bit different.

"Everybody is looking at it and thinking 'wow, what a job'. Klopp turning up at Newcastle, I could not see it but football is a funny old game."
