Pundit on Jurgen Klopp potentially quitting Liverpool after Sky's takeover update

Kevin Campbell has backed Jurgen Klopp to stay at Liverpool even if there is a change in ownership.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal striker said most managers would relish the opportunity to have the financial backing of new owners.

On Monday (7 November), it was confirmed that Reds owners Fenway Sports Group would listen to offers for the club.

In a statement, relayed by Sky Sports (8 November), the owners said they will only take on new shareholders if it is in the best interest of the club.

Klopp has reaffirmed his commitment to the Anfield club, regardless of what happens with the ownership.

As quoted by the Athletic (9 November), the German said he has a good relationship with FSG but insisted that even if things change he remains committed to the club.

The 55-year-old’s Anfield contract runs until 2026.

When asked if Klopp will leave if there is a change of ownership, Campbell told Football Insider: “Listen..in truth, I do not see that happening.

I think you can talk about it when you are not in it. But when it comes round and it is your club, you relish the opportunity to be able to have that type of investment behind you.

If you get that then you can compete to get the best players on the planet. I think Jurgen Klopp signed his contract respectfully and if there is an ownership situation and that changes Liverpool will be ok.
