Pundit predicts 'only one outcome' to source's update today on Tottenham-Martinez talks
Frank McAvennie is predicting a messy end to the transfer window for Tottenham as they look to sort out their striker situation.
The former West Ham hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, reacted to the latest update on Spurs’ transfer business.
A Tottenham source has told Football Insider today the club still in talks to sign Lautaro Martinez despite reports Inter Milan will not sell him as well as Romelu Lukaku.
Yesterday, (9th August) Football Insider revealed Martinez has told friends he has his “heart set” on joining Tottenham.
This comes during a stand-off between Daniel Levy and Harry Kane, who is still looking to leave the club this summer.
McAvennie claims Spurs can’t afford to sign Martinez without selling Kane but told Levy to sanction his star man’s exit.

“There’s only one outcome, it’s going to get very messy,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“Levy has put his foot down, it’s going to get messy because someone will sign Kane.
“He wants to leave, you have to let him go especially when you can get money for him.
“It’s not worth having him around the team and in the dressing room now.
“Martinez, that tells me he might go, do Tottenham have the money to sign him and not sell Kane?
“I’m not sure. Maybe Levy is just trying to take some of the pressure off by spending a bit of money.
“He’ll remain public enemy number one if Kane goes though.”
Martinez, 23, scored 19 goals and supplied 11 assists from 48 matches in all competitions last season.
Kane, 28, scored 23 goals and registered 14 assists in the Premier League last season.
