Pundit says Aston Villa have 'big problem' as update on incoming Man City bid revealed

Aston Villa are on the verge of a Harry Kane situation amid growing speculation over Jack Grealish’s future.

That’s according to former Villa hitman Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Grealish’s future.

A Man City source has told Football Insider that the latest situation is the club retain a strong interest in Grealish and are still planning to submit a huge bid at the end of the season.

This site understands City will make a move for Grealish if they beat Chelsea in the Champions League final.

Sky Sports revealed on Monday that Kane wants to leave Spurs with Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea all registering their interest.

In the early stage of this season, Villa were one of the form teams and a European finish was a genuine possibility.

However, their form fell away at the turn of the year after injuries to Grealish and Ross Barkley.

McAvennie claims the club has to convince Grealish they can maintain that kind of form for a whole season or risk him quitting amid City interest.

“That’s the biggest problem for Villa,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“They have to keep Grealish. It’s the same with Harry Kane at Spurs but Grealish hasn’t come out and said anything.

“Villa were challenging now they have gone the other way. John McGinn and Barkley were flying.

“Something happened but if Villa can’t challenge, Grealish won’t stay. They have to prove to him that they can get Europe next year.”

Grealish has enjoyed an impressive season, racking up seven goals and 12 assists.

Aston Villa finish their season with a home clash against Chelsea on Sunday afternoon.
