Pundit shares five-word verdict on Tottenham sacking Nuno after 'big, big' reveal

The “jury is still out” on Nuno Espirito Santo at Tottenham, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker delivered his verdict after Tottenham’s “big result” over Villa at the weekend.

Spurs ran out 2-1 winners at home over Dean Smith’s side thanks to Pierre Emile-Hojbjerg and Matt Targett’s own goal.

Speaking to club media after the game, Nuno insisted it was a “big, big moment” for his side.

The victory came off the back of three consecutive Premier League defeats where they conceded three goals in each of the games.

Asked whether the result has relieved pressure on Nuno, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “The jury is still out.”

He added: “It was a big result for Spurs. But if you look at it, you look at Spurs and Aston Villa, Spurs should be beating Aston Villa at home at their place, that result should have happened.

“Spurs have got world-class players like Harry Kane and Son, that result should be happening. I don’t think the fans will be getting carried away.

“It’s the next games, can they get a run together? Can they beat the teams around them, the Evertons.

“Villa at home, they’re meant to be winning. We’ve got to see what happens in the next few games.

“They play, Newcastle then West Ham. Can they beat West Ham? You’d say West Ham, at the moment, on par with Spurs.”

After away games against Newcastle and West Ham, Spurs play Man United and Everton before the international break.

The north London club currently sit in eighth, four points off the top of the table.
