Pundit shares 'gutted' John Lundstram verdict after Rangers deal update
It is a “no-brainer” to offer John Lundstram a new Rangers contract after his start to his second season at the club.
That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the midfielder’s form.
The Daily Record reported on Wednesday (21 September), that Lundstram is “almost certainly” going to be offered a new Rangers contract after establishing himself as a key player under Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
The 28-year-old has started all 13 of the Gers’ Premiership and Champions League games this season.
Kenny insists the midfielder is more than deserving of a new deal.
“He has done so well, hasn’t he?” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“He started so well and he has already scored some really important goals for Rangers. It’s a no-brainer. That is the term I would use.
“It makes sense to get him onto a longer deal. They don’t want to lose him as he is a key player. I saw a lot of him at Sheffield United.
“I say I saw him, that last season was during lockdown so it was all on the TV. I still watched every week and he always impressed me.
“I was gutted to lose him as a Sheffield United fan but I’m pleased to see he is thriving up in Scotland.”
Lundstram joined Rangers from Sheffield United on a free transfer in the summer of 2021.
He made 48 appearances and scored four goals during his first season at Ibrox.
