Pundit shares verdict on Antonio Conte quitting Tottenham after source's update
Antonio Conte is planning to stay at Tottenham long-term with the signing of Destiny Udogie.
That’s according to former Aston Villa and Scotland boss Alex McLeish, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Spurs’ transfer business.
On Tuesday (9 August) sources told Football Insider that Tottenham have agreed personal terms with Udogie after having a £20million buy-to-loan bid accepted by Udinese.
The left-back, 19, will undergo a medical in Italy, where he will remain for the rest of the season on loan back at Udinese.
On Monday (8 August), Spurs expert and Football Insider pundit John Wenham told this site that Udogie is a Conte signing, pointing towards his long-term plans for the club.
McLeish insists the decision to sign Udogie is “reassuring” for any fans who may be concerned over Conte’s future.

“That’s reassuring for the Tottenham fans,” McLeish told Football Insider’s Ben Wild.
“They are already seeing Conte as a way ahead of the previous managers that have been in there. I think mainly because he seems to have got his way in the transfer market.
“Previous managers didn’t use the money. I don’t want to be a broken record but when Mourinho went in there he said he was going into the academy because there was a lot of talent in there.
“All I thought was, he hasn’t got any money. Sure enough, he didn’t last there much longer. Now Conte has put his foot down and demanded support.
“Levy and Spurs have supported him thus far.”
Conte’s Spurs deal expires at the end of the 2022-23 season.
Tottenham beat Southampton 4-1 in their first game of the season.
