Pundit suggests Winks could sign for Everton or Southampton after Tottenham news
Noel Whelan has suggested Everton and Southampton could lead the race to sign Harry Winks from Tottenham.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed there would be a host of clubs in the hunt for the 25-year-old.
As revealed by Football Insider on Thursday (July 29th), Winks is in talks to leave Spurs for a Premier League rival this summer.
Nuno Espirito Santo has given the midfielder the green light to leave for another top-flight side.
Whelan suggested Southampton would suit Winks “down to the ground” thanks to their possession-based style.
However, he tipped Everton to consider using their financial muscle to lure him from north London.

“I think everybody needs a player like that,” Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge.
“You can look at Everton, they’ll have the money for a player like that, somebody with that sort of experience. I think most clubs will be fancying him.
“Obviously it’s whether you need a player that badly, where you don’t have that sort of player in your ranks. When you look at Leeds, we’ve got Kalvin Phillips.
“Most teams will have somebody along those kinds of lines. However, there will be teams that go: ‘Ooh, do you know what? We could maybe do with a player like that. Then we can push another player forward into that midfield area.
“I think it’s just important he gets out and starts playing again. Even Southampton, possibly, could do with a player like that.
“They play that good style of football, it’s on the deck it’s quick-paced. That to me would suit Harry Winks down to the ground.”
