Pundit tips Everton to make 'big' Benitez decision 'soon' amid 'terrible' verdict
Frank McAvennie insists it is “inevitable” Rafael Benitez will be sacked as Everton manager.
The former West Ham hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claims the Spaniard’s spell in charge will only “end in tears”.
Everton lost three consecutive Premier League games before holding Tottenham to a goalless draw at Goodison Park today.
Due to his previous work with Liverpool, the Spaniard faced plenty of pushback from some Everton fans when he emerged as a candidate to replace Carlo Ancelotti in the summer.
McAvennie insists this partnership is destined to fail and claimed some fans already want Benitez sacked.
“They [the fans] want him gone,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“That’s what it sounds like anyway. Listen, they don’t like him.
“They were never going to take to Rafa, it just wasn’t going to happen.
“The whole this is only going to end in tears and I’m not surprised at where they find themselves.
“Everton spent nothing in the summer and they don’t have a squad that can challenge the likes of West Ham, never mind Liverpool.
“They have been terrible in recent weeks, from what I’ve seen anyway.
“Is Rafa ever going to win a trophy or get Everton into Europe? I don’t think so.
“I think it’s a matter of time before he goes, whether it’s deserved or not. It’s inevitable.
“It’s a big decision but they will be left with no choice soon.”
Everton are 11th in the Premier League table going into the latest international break.
Between now and Christmas they’ll face Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Leicester City, not to mention tricky trips to Brentford and Crystal Palace.
