Pundit tips Tottenham to get fans back onside as 'amazing' Pjanic approach reported
Noel Whelan has suggested Tottenham could get fans back onside with the signing of Miralem Pjanic from Barcelona.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the “fantastic” 31-year-old is the sort of high-profile addition needed this summer.
Spanish publication Sport report (July 1st), Tottenham have made an approach about signing Pjanic on loan as Barca look to offload him.
Pjanic joined the Catalan giants last summer for a deal worth a potential £55.8million (€65million).
He still has three years left on his contract at the Nou Camp.
Whelan suggested after the frustration of the club’s manager hunt, a signing like Pjanic would go a long way to rebuilding faith among the fanbase.

Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “Fans will want to see players like that coming to Tottenham.
“Despite them not being in the Champions League, they’ve got to find quality somewhere.
“Players that are going to accept not playing in those sort of competitions. Someone who is looking to the future to put themselves back in contention to play there.
“It’s vital as a manager that you don’t just go out there looking for 21-year-olds.
“There’s been a lot of criticism of how they’ve dealt with picking the manager.
“He’s a Bosnia International. He’s been at Barcelona, he’s an amazing player, he’s competitive.
“That’s what’s Tottenham need to be again. They need to find that nice balance.”
Pjanic played 30 times across all competitions during his first season at Barcelona.
However, he only made six starts in La Liga and featured twice in the club’s final 14 league games.
